Principle: Self-government in and through Christ leads to liberty.

(This week's inspirements are below.)

We had the wonderful opportunity to hear from Brother Garn in Core Leadership this last week. What treasures he taught us about leadership!  Do you remember what he said the first most important word in the English language is?
REMEMBER who you are, Who sent you here, Who trained you and poured His love into you to prepare you to be here at this time. He encouraged us to look up the word 'remember' in the topical guide of the scriptures and see what you find. He also said:
"You'll have the chance throughout your life to remember the God-prepared leader that you are. Choose to remember the leader that is inside of you."
"The greatest leaders are great followers - or actually, even greater followers. Jesus Christ only did that which His Father asked Him to do."
Do you remember what Bro. Garn encouraged us to have as the motivation behind all of our leadership?
"Love Him.
Love His people.
Love Him so much that you cannot stop serving them."

The requirements for earning Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master level work are as follows:
Apprentice: Read an hour's worth of the readings
Journeyman: Finish the readings
Master: Finish the readings and write your thoughts and insights/inspirations in your Truth Book about the readings in a meaningful way. Remember, this is YOUR education!

The inspirement for this week is to read the last installment of "How to Win Friends and Influence People," which is Part IV Chapters 1-9, keeping in mind the requirements for earning A, J, & M. (see above) We encourage you to underline things in this chapter that you like or think are important, and write your thoughts or questions in your Truth Book. Dig in to these chapters and you'll be amazed at the treasures you'll find!

This is it! This is the last section of the book! READ IT! FINISH IT! Remember the principle we learned about a few months ago about being a FINISHER?! You Can Do It!!

April 23

Principle: Self-government in and through Christ leads to liberty.

It was sure great to visit with you all last week in Core Leadership. We had a great discussion about the more 'outward' aspects of leadership.  We talked about how a person needs to be neat and comely, confident and friendly, why missionaries don't go out in clusters, why seminary teachers dress the way they do, and how even voice lessons and a new hairdo can make all the difference in topping off a person's ability to lead. (Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady")
We only have a few short weeks left of classes and we want to make sure you all finish strong!! Work hard this month to read the whole book of "How to Win Friends and Influence People." You will always be SO glad you did!

The inspirement for this week is to read the fourth installment of "How to Win Friends and Influence People," Part III chapters 7-12.
Please set yourself the lofty goal of achieving Master level work this week! EVERYONE can do this! So we challenge EVERYONE to earn Master level this week! Which means: Finish the readings AND write your thoughts in your Truth Book in a meaningful way. There will be a special treat for all who do! :)

April 9th and 16th

Principle: Self-government in and through Christ leads to liberty.

We had the great opportunity to hear from Connor Boyack, author of "Latter-day Responsibility."  He gave a wonderful discourse on why education is so key to building Zion. I tried to take some good notes on the scripture references he used and you can access them here if you'd like to study them. He encouraged us to read 3 Nephi 26 from beginning to end. We are so grateful Brother Boyack came and spoke to us!

The requirements for earning Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master level work are as follows:
Apprentice: Read an hour's worth of the readings
Journeyman: Finish the readings
